Issue of The Day: Who's Barack Hussein Obama? Hope or False Hope?

A black 007? The man who can save this world?
Yes we know! He's the first Afro-American to a enter the White House! To even ascend the throne i.e. become the president of the United States... We all know the famous unbelievable or almost story of Barack Obama! The Media didn't give us a break, did they!
What I want to point out here, however, is : Would Obama change this upsidedown world? Would he keep the promises he made in his one of a kind compaign? I doubt it! But I'm quite optimistic, nevertheless.
Frankly his promises are fairytale-like! Plus, Even if he does his best he's not alone in that damn House!
The Near Orient case is far from being solved. Yet, Changes may come and they would be sufficient!
Getting out from Iraq is a good thing but as I said earlier Barack may not succeed of excuting that on the time he fixed _ one and a half year _ because simply he doesn't rule America and America's international affairs by his own.
Fixing out the international financial crisis: That's so possible! I assume he'll make it!
The list is endless...
Let's turn back to November the 3rd. Remember this date? It's Barack's victory eve! Why this date is important?
It is actually a significant date to me since on that day the world was in its peak impatience to hear the results: Whether Obama would win or not? One should look upon people faces: off faces, thoughtful faces, hopeful faces, all hope. It was as if the world depended on that election. November the 4th, Paris set its time on Washington's! It was 4 a.m. and people _ working the following day _ are still awake. Is that not something?
Obama did save the world whether he liked it or not, whether we liked it or not, He gave us hope. He's still giving us hope! Imagine for one second that McCain won the election! That would be monotonous, killful! The world needed that hope in the middle of the financial crisis. The world had no taste and needed change, needed a ' Hero' (and it happened to be American, as usual!).
January 22nd, The official day of Obama's presidency, 8 and a half million worldwide saw the inaugaration's speech between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Isn't that madness?
Obama was the hope the whole world needed! Whether it is a true hope or a false hope? It remains a hope and without hope we are lifeless! Our only hope now is to be true. Hopefully, Obama will change miraculously this world!
And if the world would be leaded benignly by an Afro-American leader, let it be! I can see nothing abnormal in that, whatsoever! Hopefully, YES WE CAN.

I agree with Aziz. As he said, the power of money is the stronger. The multinational firms have the money, they give the money which is the President's Wage. And with money you can do other things more or less legal.

(It's my opinion and it is probably to be discussed).

Let's took somebody as JFK, who tried to govern by himself. Dead. Martn Luther King, Dead. Even in France, Coluche, dead. Bérégovoy, dead.

I ask the question : why? They were against the politics and the economic conditions.

I think it is too many coincidences. To my mind, if Obama doesn't let the multinational firms decide, he will dramatically die.

(How pessimistic I am...)

I agree a little with you, Emerique, because I think people put too much hope in Obama. Indeed, he is black and it's a great change in the history of the country, for many people it is like a victory after all Marthin Luther King's struggles for example. But, we have to keep in mind that he won't be able to put into practise each promise he said right now and that is why I think people could be disappointed. They expect too much from him. However, I think it's a good thing for Americans (but not only) to believe in one person who might change, even a little, the way of thinking, seeing and governing. Now we have just to wait and see what he will do. Only after that, we can decide if we were right to trust him.

You've wondered about the matter if really He does hold the entire power. Verily, he doesn't. None of his predecessors did. Since the very beginning of the phenomenon of "globalisation" a few number of multinational corporations got powers in heads by getting in a record period of time staggering profits. The latters blackmail memebers of the political power on economic issues through either the activity of lobbying or even corruption. But the network is deeply more complex ):-! Some analyists puzzled about some Barak's positions even before his election (read the editorial of Le Monde diplomatique of August 2008 by Serge Halimi http://mondediplo.com/2008/08/01obama )
Anyway, there's still hope enough, that's where I don't agree with you Emerique. Regarding the history of the US, having a black president is itself the embodiment of a symbolic victory of humanism over racism...

I don't understand why people enjoy speaking about this man. After all, he is just a man. Because he is black, he will change the face of the world? On the one hand, yes he has already made something which is very important, a deep changement in the american mentalities. But in the other hand, why could he be better than his predecessors? Since he orders to close the Guantanamo camp? This is a first good step (and I hope the first of many others) but people see him as a superhero. Many of them will be disappointed. As I just said before, he is just a man. The fact that he is black won't change the world. He is a politician. However if he keeps his promises, it will make him exceptionnal.
